Anybody made his/her resolutions yet?
At this point I remember a cartoon about a dog that resolved to stop chasing the cat and stop scaring the birds..... But after a while when he's being taunted by the cat and the birds, he thought to himself and decided he will still not break his resolution, he will not chase the cat and scare the birds, but he will chase the birds and scare the cat...lol.
Well as good as the resolution thing is, as it helps you to highlight the goals you want to achieve for the year, it is usually hard to follow through, especially resolution on things you want to stop doing. In times past people have resolved to either quit smoking or stop womanizing, students promise themselves to limit their play and focus on their studies etc but before the month of January runs out, everything is back as it used to be... You find yourself smoking even more, or some extremely charming ladies start flocking around you and you find them hard to resist and so you end up dating even more women than you previously did. This is probably due to the fact that you have starved yourself of these things in the first few weeks of the year and so you voraciously try to catch up with what you've missed.
I for one don't observe it anymore but that doesn't mean I don't have goals or habits I want to shed, but rather anytime I decide on something, I keep them in mind, try, and if I break my resolve, I try again. That has worked for me better than doing the traditional New Year thing and then when it doesn't work, you feel the year has been tainted already and then you wait till next year to try again. With that, it's very unlikely you'll achieve any of your resolution. If at first you don't succeed, try and try again. Wishing everyone who reads this a Blessed New Year full of Achievements.
